Norfolk man charged in Delhi armed robbery

A Norfolk man was arrested and charged this weekend following an armed robbery in Delhi.Around 6:15 a.m. Sunday, a man entered the Mac’s convenience store on James Street brandishing a knife. The man demanded and was given money from the till and then left the scene in a sports utility vehicle.Soon after, police patrolling Highway 24 north of Simcoe located the suspect vehicle and pulled it over as it headed toward Brant County. The driver was taken into custody without incident and no injuries were reported.Owen Drover, 59, has been charged with armed robbery, operation of a motor vehicle while impaired by drugs or alcohol, and failure to comply with a probation order.The accused is being held in custody and will answer the charges in the Ontario Court of Justice at a later date.
